Marlene graduated from the University of Toronto and earned 1) a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education with high honours, 2) a Master of Exercise Science specializing in Motor Control/Motor Learning, and 3) a Master of Science in Physical Therapy.
Marlene’s post graduate education has included training in advanced orthopaedic manual therapy, and she is working towards a Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. She has taken courses in acupuncture, soft tissue release, and temporomandibular joint disorders. Marlene is also a Certified Integrated Dry Needling Practitioner.
Since becoming a mom, Marlene has taken a special interest in Pelvic Health rehabilitation. Courses completed include:
1) Incontinence
2) Level II/III Female and Male Pelvic Pain
3) Pre/Post Natal Care
4) Caesarian Birth & Rehab
5) Running Athletes
6) Artistic Athletes: Optimizing Pelvic Health in Dancers

8) Pregnancy and the Pelvic Floor.
Marlene’s approach to clinical practice is also influenced by 10+ years of coaching experience in gymnastics, including previously owning a successful competitive club. Her certifications in this sport are:
1) NCCP Level 2 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
2) Level 1 Trampoline
3) Level 3 Theory
Lastly, prior to becoming a Physiotherapist, Marlene gained extensive experience in the field of motor behaviour, publishing research and presenting in national/ international conferences. Her thesis work highlighted her knowledge of gymnastics by focusing on visual-vestibular interactions during a back salto and the ability to use sensory feedback to control landing stability.
Overall, Marlene’s comprehensive training allows her to treat a variety of orthopaedic conditions, sports related injuries and pelvic health dysfunctions. Her treatment approach combines education, manual therapy, acupuncture and progressive exercise prescription to meet her client’s specific rehabilitation needs.
